Cutouts

1. Decorations in my apartment; 04.26. 2010; 4:00 p.m.; Rexburg, ID; f/2.8; 1/5; Sony DSC-H7
2. Spring flowers; 04.26.2010; 9:30 a.m.; Rexburg, ID; f/3.5; 1/30; Sony DSC-H7

Both of these photographs were taken as I was experimenting with different aperature and shutter speeds. One was taken indoors, which meant that I had to change a few things. The other was taken outdoors, which taught me to change things when needed. Both subjects were interesting to take pictures of and have helped me get used to my own camera and see what I can do!

The half cutout of the family decoration is awesome. It really emphasizes the family part of the photo in a different way than the original photo. The flower could possibly use a little more feather, but you did a great job especially with all the like colors.

I really like the partial cutout. The lighting is great and the angle adds a lot to the composition of the photo. I like the blue flower with the contrasting middle. great work!

Great composition in the family partial cutout. You used a vanishing point (I think that is what it is called) and it added a lot of interest to the photo. You did a great job cutting out the text. It almost looks like the word art that I used to mess around with in Microsoft Word years ago. It looks like you took a lot of care in cutting out both projects. You did a great job showcasing the flower cutout. It is difficult to get it just right but you did it. I would like to see some sort of shadow around the flower but I don't recall how to do it. I know Sis. Esplin talked about it but I'll have to ask her again. Great job!

I really like your partial cutout of the "Family" it turned out really nice. The angle of it makes it a perfect photograph to do that with. Your flower is really good as well, but it could definitely use more of a smoother edge to it. Maybe spending a little more time refining the edges with the lasso tool and then feather the edges a bit. Great job! Keep it up!

I love love love the "Family" photo. It is so great! It is so crazy how just changing the angle of it made it that much more interesting than just taking it straight on. Great job on the flower cut out. That looks more difficult because of the colors of the background.
